1890's Golden Oak Sideboard w/Columns & Applied Carving
(Item: 4197JC)

1890's Golden Oak Sideboard w/ Columns & Applied Carving

A fabulous example of turn-of-the-century quarter sawn oak furniture. This great dining room piece is suitable for display and storage of all your fine china, linens, and silverware. It is solid golden oak with an arched and scrolled crest, turned and reeded columns, and curved center shelves half way up the columns. There are 15 stylized applied carvings of daisies around the top section above the mirror. The mirror is beveled glass in excellent condition. The base is solid and rests on four metal casters. There are two upper drawers. The wood is 1 ½" thick on the drawer fronts, with dovetailing on all drawers. There is a long center drawer and two lower doors with a center shelf. The lower doors and center piece have nicely curved and scrolled applied carving. Since this piece is solid quarter sawn oak, it is very heavy. It does come apart in the center for easier moving. All hardware is original, and there is a key for the locks. We feel this piece was professionally refinished 30 years ago. There are four tiny filled nail holes near the front edges. Not noticeable, but must be mentioned. Dimensions of this beautiful piece are: 4' 4" wide, 6' 4 1/4" tall, and 23" deep. The mirror is 41" wide and 21" tall. An elegant sideboard all ready for your dining room!
