Majolica Footed Basket with Snake Handles

This recent estate acquisition is in excellent condition and is one we are proud to offer! This piece has a large footed base. It is in a basket weave pattern in gold-brown trim with intertwined snakes as handles. Waterlilies and lily pads are at the center of the basket interior. The outside of the basket is dark green. The basket is in excellent condition with some light surface crazing from age. It has no chips. There is one tiny surface craze line, or hairline 1 ½" near the edge of the basket. It is nearly invisible, but must be mentioned for accuracy (see picture). There is some brown glaze over run on the base which is usual for Majolica pieces; this just makes it all the more authentic. Dimensions of the basket are: 10" wide at the handles and 4" tall. The base is 6" in diameter. A great piece for the serious Majolica collector!
