1890's Large Quarter Sawn Oak Paneled "S" Roll Top Desk

This is a simply exquisite roll top desk in room-ready condition. This is possibly the largest and nicest roll top desk we have offered yet! It is solid quarter sawn oak with the original and rich looking dark golden oak finish. It is fully restored with some professional repairs. The roll top is the more desirable "S" shape. The roll top tambors have new cloth tambor backing, new tambor base plate, handles, and lock. The finish has been matched exactly. The upper left drawer has been repaired on the base section. An old stress crack in the center of the writing surface has been repaired and matched. There are 35 drawers and several letter slots on the top section. The brass front plates have ben polished (three replaced on the far right drawers). There are eight lower drawers, original handles, and one center drawer. There is a pull out work shelf on each side. The sides, back, and knee hole all have recessed panels. The back panels make it possible for the desk to sit in the middle of a room and still look attractive. We have photographed the desk on two moving dollies, since it is very hard to move at 350 to 400 pounds! The finish on the desk has been cleaned, touched up, and polished for the best possible appearance. Dimensions of the "S" roll top desk are: 65 3/4" wide, 36 1/4" deep, and 49 3/4" tall.
