1895 Rock Island System A & W Railroad Lantern w/ Red Cast Extended Base "Rock Island System" Globe

If you have been searching for that unique railroadiana collectible, here it is. Rock Island System marked lanterns are much harder to find and much older than the Rock Island Lines marked lanterns. The top lid is embossed "Rock Island System, The Adams & Westlake Company, Chicago, New York, Patented May 25, 1895". The lantern frame has been cleaned of oil & dirt, then hand polished. There is some minor light surface roughness on the top lid, but no pin holes. Very straight lantern with excellent metal from our personal collection. The lantern comes with a very hard to find dark red flashed, medium cast "Rock Island System", 5 3/8" tall extended base globe in near mint condition with only one very tiny inside bottom rim flea bite. The twist-off fount & burner is in excellent condition and will still hold oil & burn. Some railroader a long time ago punched two tiny drain holes so water would not build up on the outside edges and rust it out. A very minor adjustment that the A&W Company should have added to all their lanterns. A very hard to find 1895 Rock Island Railroad lantern that is ready to add to your collection!

1895 Rock Island System Adams & Westlake Railroad Lantern with a Red Cast Extended Base "Rock Island System" Globe....A hard to find lantern!

The lantern comes with a very hard to find flashed, dark red, medium cast "Rock Island System" 5 3/8" tall extended base globe.

There is only one very minor and very tiny inside bottom rim flea bite. Not worth mentioning, but noted for accuracy.

Rock Island System marked lanterns are much harder to find and much older than the Rock Island Lines marked lanterns.
