D&RGRR Stamped Heart Shaped A&W Lock
A very nice turn-of-the-century Denver & Rio Grande Railroad brass heart shaped switch lock that is stamped "D&RGRR" on the shackle. On the opposite side is a stamped letter "S" for "switch." The shackle does show some dings from years of use. The key cover has the earlier "older" stamped "A&W, Chicago" hexagon logo, which was used from 1887 to the turn of the century. The Adams and Westlake Mfg. Co. (formed in 1874) and Union Brass Mfg. Co. merged together as the Adams & Westlake Co. in 1887. The lock has great patina for display. The key cover spring is strong and the lock works well. We used a D&RG switch key to open it, (Item No. #4246J for $97.50, shown with the lock).
Save money by purchasing both the lock & key for only $375.00. The dimensions of the lock are: 4" long and 2 9/16" wide. It has a 9” long chain, but is missing the clevis.
