1895 Santa Fe "A" Ry Clear Cast Bell Bottom A&W Lantern
(Item: 4510C)

Santa Fe “A” Railway 1895 A&W Bell Bottom Lantern w/Clear Cast 1902 Corning Globe

Here is a very nice Santa Fe “A” Railway, 1895 lantern ready for display from the old west! The “A” stands for the Albuquerque, New Mexico division. It is embossed on the top lid “Santa Fe A, The Adams & Westlake Company, Chicago, New York”, Patented May 28, 1895” It is stamped over the five numbers “May 3, 1905” in small letters. The frame is nice and solid, with no pin holes, but does have some surface roughness, or light pitting on the bell and top lid from years of use (see pictures). The former owner painted the frame for display. We removed two layers of new paint, cleaned, then hand buffed it with a cotton cloth. The frame stands 10 ½” tall without the bail. The lantern comes with the original globe, a 5 3/8” tall clear cast Corning. It has a very strong cast “Santa Fe” cross logo. It is also cast on the other side the Corning logo “Cnx”, and has a weak cast “1902“ patent date near the top rim. The globe has yellowed from years of use, and does have a few blemishes on the glass surface, but overall it is in great condition with lots of patina. There is one glass ding above the logo, most likely from a small rock. This cannot be seen when in the frame. The lantern comes with the original A&W fount and burner that is in very good condition, and will still hold oil and burn. A very nice 100 year old Santa Fe lantern that you can proudly display, which was used in the early southwestern days that helped build this country!

Please be patient for ten larger pictures to download!
