proudly presents a limited quantity of Sunstone
|
We have available a limited inventory of different shapes
and sizes of Sunstone, a natural gemstone. Sunstone is a natural brilliant
stone in the feldspar family found in North America. Our tailored inventory
includes most of the following faceted shapes: round, oval, emerald, pear,
trillion, heart, octagon, and marquise. (Not all shapes and sizes are
available at all times). We also have a variety of fancy cuts in different
sizes and forms. Our intent is to satisfy gem collectors and the manufacturer
of of high-end jewelry. These fine faceted naturally brilliant gemstones
are rare because of a low yield rate. This is due to the very limited
quantity of excellent quality rough materials needed to hand cut the best
gem quality finished product for the discriminating collector. To create
the best quality for the discriminating collector our stones are individually
selected to international high standards. Fine quality faceted stones
up to 3 carats are limited, and over 5 carats are extremely hard to keep
in our inventory.
Technical Character
Sunstone is a natural gemstone with a chemical composition bordering
between Andesine and Bytownite. It is a Ca-Plagioclase stone with a refractive
index of 1.560 - 1.568 and is doubly refractive. Sunstone is a gem quality
member of the Labradorite family. It has a hardness of 6.5. The hues range
from colorless to light yellow within our inventory of faceted stones.
Supply and Demand
Our current supply could run out shortly with a minimal increase
in demand. At present we are fortunate enough to produce enough cut Sunstone
to take care of current demand. At this time we carry an inventory of
cut Sunstone and can ship most orders from stock.
